A truck tractor  is a type of tractor that works with semi-trailers attached to the machine using a special coupling mechanism — a fifth wheel coupling. One of the most common modifications of medium and heavy trucks. It is usually created on the basis of already existing conventional trucks by partially changing, or rather simplifying the project. The frame is much shorter compared to a conventional truck, and the body superstructure is replaced with a fifth wheel coupling.

Application

The abundance of semi-trailers allows the use of truck tractors in various fields of activity related to the transportation of goods. The best known is long-distance haulage, where the driver spends much of his life behind the wheel in the special conditions of the road, and this profession has spawned a specific subculture all over the world.

Advantages
